This involves proceedings in the Civil Courts. If you have suffered
loss, damage or injury, then you may be entitled to compensation.
From an initial interview, we can give an indication of the
strength or weakness of your case and potential costs involved
and whether legal aid is appropriate. We will, with your authority,
instruct Barristers in this work and arrange consultations
as appropriate. Many cases are settled before coming to Court
so you should not be unduly concerned about making an appearance
in court and we will take your instructions as to whether to
proceed to a court hearing or not.
However, whatever the cause
of the accident, you should take the following steps to
increase your chances of obtaining compensation:
Obtain the name, address and telephone number of any witnesses.
If injured at work, make sure the Accident Book is filled
in. In a road traffic accident, notify the Police so they can
interview
all parties and prepare a sketch map and inform your insurance
company immediately. Keep all receipts for repairs safe and
do not have this work undertaken until your solicitor confirms
that
you may proceed as the damage may need to be inspected.
If
you are injured, obtain medical assistance right away so
that your injuries are properly treated and recorded.
Take photographs
of any bruising and scarring you may have suffered. Also,
if possible, take photographs of the actual scene of the
accident
(particularly useful in tripping and car accidents) and
any damage to vehicles or other.
These are some guidelines which should be of benefit and
will enable us to help you. However we do recommend you
seek legal
advice at the earliest opportunity.
Accidents can happen
anywhere, at any time- on the road, at work, or on holiday
but wherever and however the accident
occurred
we will ensure your claim is pursued vigorously and
that you get the full amount of compensation that you are
due.
